Test your webcam

1. Click the “Start Webcam Test” button.
2. Click “Allow” on any pop-ups that may appear on your screen.
3. Review your webcam’s video & image quality.

1. First, click the “Start” button in the bottom left corner of your screen.
2. Using your keyboard, enter “camera” into the search bar and then press “Enter”.
3. Give access to your webcam, mic and location if required. Click “Allow” where necessary.
4. When the camera app appears, you'll see yourself on the screen.

While VEED does not have audio or mic testing capabilities, for now, you can still check your computer’s audio by either going into your device settings or testing your audio in the video conferencing platform that you wish to use. You can go to Google Meet or Microsoft Teams and click select the option to test your audio and camera.

Your laptop’s webcam comes preinstalled on your device. That means you typically don’t need to install software to use it. Any application that requires or allows you to use your laptop’s webcam will automatically activate it, though you may have to give permission to those apps to access your webcam.

If you are installing an external web camera, it usually comes with a CD or a link online where you can download the software to install it. In some cases, no software installation is required. You just plug the camera into your computer’s USB port and activate it by using an app that requires or allows the use of webcam.

The best place to position your webcam is just above your eye level. You can angle it slightly downward so that your camera can capture a good portion of your upper body and face.
